Twisted Oaks is one of those rare spots that genuinely offers something for everyone. I’ve ridden plenty of parks over the years, from the places that promise progression to the ones that only deliver bruises, and this site in Suffolk sits comfortably in the sweet spot.
Beginners get smooth trails where they can build confidence without feeling like they’ve accidentally signed up for Red Bull Rampage, while the more seasoned riders can sharpen skills without having to book physio on the way home.
The fitness side is covered too. There are enough trail loops here to get your legs burning and your lungs reminding you you’re not 25 any more. It’s a good chance to mix skill work with a proper workout, which is ideal for anyone over 40 who still wants to push a bit without feeling reckless.
The jump lines are well thought out. You can roll, pump or send, depending on how brave you're feeling on the day. Gaps and drop-offs progress sensibly, which is something riders mention a lot in their own reviews. People appreciate not being thrown in at the deep end with features that ask more questions than they answer. Twisted Oaks has clearly listened to its riders and shaped the park to help skills grow at a steady pace.
It’s well maintained, friendly, and easy to navigate. Several riders praise the coaching, the layout, and the family atmosphere. You don’t need to be elite to enjoy yourself but, if you are, there’s enough here to keep your ego awake.
In short, Twisted Oaks is a brilliant place to train, ride, and enjoy the sport whatever level you’re at. If you're looking to build stamina, sharpen technique, or just get outside and forget about everyday life for a bit, it’s worth the trip, so much so I'm just about to purchase a years membership here.
BikePark Wales is one of those places that stays with you. It has everything from smooth flow to rocky chaos and it does a fine job reminding you that mountain biking is both a sport and a full body audit. I have ridden it many times and each visit delivers something different.
The mechanics team deserve credit. They are some of the best I have ever met. They deal with battered wheels, tired drivetrains and the sort of mechanical carnage that would make most riders cry into their coffee. The park has a habit of trashing bikes if you are not prepared so arrive with a solid setup and a bit of mechanical pride.
The uplift service is spot on. When you push hard you can squeeze in eight to ten uplifts and you certainly feel the physicality of that. Your legs remind you that this is not a lazy day out. It is worth remembering that out of season the light disappears quickly. You really do not want to be caught in the woods in the dark. Trust me on that one.
The coaching groups are excellent. You pick up skills, sharpen technique and cut out the silly habits we all develop. Riders consistently say how much they improve after a session which is why I always recommend them.
A lot of people moan about the price but personally I think it is worth every penny. You get a full day of quality riding, great staff and a safe well run setup. After thirty years in the fitness industry you learn what genuine value looks like.
Here is the part that is a bit personal. BikePark Wales is where I had my major accident. Some people might expect me to avoid the place but I feel a stronger bond to it. It was part of my story and part of my recovery. It gave me a scare but it also reminded me why I love this sport.
In short, BikePark Wales is a fantastic venue for riders who want progression, challenge and a proper day on the hill. I will keep going back because the place delivers every time.
